Local History
What was once a Duwamish village, where the babáqWab lived, is now the semi-industrial district we know today. Named after William Bell, an Illinois farmer, the land was claimed under The Donation Land Claim Act of 1850. It was once known as "Film Row" in 1923 but is currently characterized by its trendy restaurants and art galleries.
